My passion for motorsport and cars has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. After years of attending races as a spectator, I began to wonder how I could get closer to the action — to be part of the heartbeat of motorsport rather than watching from the stands. The answer came in 2019, when I attended a taster day at the Mini Festival at Brands Hatch. It was love at first sight. That day, I discovered the incredible world of motorsport marshalling, and I’ve never looked back since.
To my surprise, I learned that the people in orange overalls who keep every race running smoothly aren’t full-time circuit staff, but dedicated volunteers — ordinary individuals united by an extraordinary passion for motorsport. Becoming one of them is easier than many think: all it takes is a bit of enthusiasm, a taster day, and the willingness to be part of something bigger than yourself.
Since that first event, I’ve had the privilege of marshalling at hundreds of races, gaining experience and appreciation for every role on the track. It’s been an incredible journey — witnessing motorsport from a perspective few ever see, while contributing to the safety, fairness, and success of each event.
Over time, I’ve progressed to become a fully licensed Grade 1 Race Marshal, accredited by Motorsport UK, which allows me to officiate at FIA national and international events including Formula 1, Le Mans, and the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Each event brings new challenges, teamwork, and moments of pure adrenaline — all part of what makes marshalling such a rewarding experience.
Below are some photos captured by professional photographers and spectators, showcasing the unforgettable experiences I’ve had trackside — not as a spectator, but as part of the team that makes it all happen.

If you’ve ever stood trackside and felt the roar of engines in your chest, imagine being part of the team that makes it all possible. That’s what motorsport marshalling offers — a front-row seat to the action and a chance to contribute to the sport you love.
Anyone can become a marshal — all you need is passion and a desire to get involved.
